John’s Woodpile

John's Woodpile, Whitefield, Maine

Last Saturday I headed over towards Augusta to run an errand, then stopped in at my friends John and Mercy to help John with his new darkroom and new/old camera (an ancient 8×10 he got off eBay).

The session was more of a figuring out his weird shutter and arranging the darkroom kind of thing, and I only made two plates. Here’s one!

Note the icicles in the top left – it was pretty darn cold outside. Anyone who says it’s too cold in winter to do wetplate is full of it.  ;-)  In one of my next posts I’ll put up some tins from two days of shooting in West Virginia last month, in which the temperature (chemicals and all) never got above 41F, and for a while was in the low 30s.
